[edit] Other Mailing Lists

  • CalBirds: is the mailing list for statewide rare bird reports. If you're interested in chasing rarities within the state, this is a key resource for finding out when they appear.
  • Birdwest: this mailing list consolidates rare bird reports from around the western United States and some areas of British Columbia. These reports are compiled from the reports sent to the birdboxes of each region. A very useful way to track what rarities are showing up throughout the western states.

[edit] Web Sites

  • eBird: run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, it is an online site to allow you to document your birdwatching trips and your life list, and share that data with other birders and the researchers.
  • Birding.com: A good starting point for finding birdwatching information around the net.
  • Birding Magazine, the publication of the American Birding Association, has put the archives of it's magazine online. Some really nice information here for people looking to expand their knowledge of birdwatching.

[edit] Birding Toys

These are products I use in my birdwatching, so I can recommend them to you. If you buy them through these links, you'll support this site, and help support Silicon Valley Audubon, to which we donate a percentage of the profits this site generates.
